Rudder Bearing

Orkot Marine Bearings have supplied to the Rudder Bearing market for more than 25 years. We started to supply the UK navy to replace asbestos in Rudder Bearing and stabiliser bearing application. The success of this venture lead Orkot Marine Bearings to move into the commercial Rudder Bearing market. Since then Orkot have supplied over 1000 vessels worldwide for Rudder Bearing applications with an excellent reputation both in the newbuilding and Rudder Bearing repair market.

Our extensive network of stockists and distributors for Rudder Bearing, coupled with a reputation for excellent service make Orkot Marine Bearings the supplier of first choice for many owners and shipyards. Certification is held for over 30 different Classification Societies including Lloyds,
DNV, GL, ABS, KRS,CCS, etc. for Orkot Rudder Bearing. With Rudder Bearing fittings on nearly all classes of vessels, from tankers, containerships up 5800 TEU, Ice Class vessels, bulk tankers through to Military Vessels. Recent experience has seen Orkot Rudder Bearing fitted to the very latest designs of vessels where a combination of ease of fitting, reliability and long service life has seen Orkot Marine Bearings specified for very large Rudder Bearings. These ships have Rudder Bearings up to 1200mm in diameter that show the true capability of the Rudder Bearing material.

With two different materials on offer, Orkot TLMM and Orkot TXMM we are able to handle most current Rudder Bearing designs. Orkot TLMM is the standard material selected for most Rudder Bearing applications. It has a low coefficient of friction and is unaffected by seawater, but can also run intermittently dry in some circumstances. For a truly dry running Rudder Bearing material with very low coefficient of friction then Orkot TXMM has been proven to be the best material. This remarkable Rudder Bearing material can run totally dry without lubrication by oil, grease or seawater. Because it is also suitably for partially lubricated Rudder Bearings it is used in many LPG vessels for the ability to reduce friction and provide a Rudder Bearing that will eliminate any slip stick problems with potential generating static.
